Prof.(Dr.) Syed Manal Shah Alquadri

                    

Prof.(Dr.) Syed Manal Shah Alquardri was born on January 2, 1945 in Kolkata.  He is a renowned scholar and the President of India has conferred upon him the award of ‘Certificate of Honour’ for his erudite scholarship and immense contribution in Persian Literature and granted him lifetime scholarship.  He is a Gold Medalist from Calcutta University in Persian and Arabic languages.

Before his arrival here he was holding the Chair of Sir Asutosh Professor of Islamic Culture in the Department of Arabic & Persian, Calcutta University.  Formerly he was the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Calcutta; Chairman, West Bengal Minorities Commission, Govt. of West Bengal; Senator, University of Calcutta General Secretary, Fourteen Hundred Years of Islam Celebration and Member of Syndicate, University of Kolkata.

He also went to Saudi Arabia as a member of the Haj Goodwill Delegation of the Prime Minister of India in 1999 and 2006.

He is fluent in English, Urdu, Persian, Arabic and Bengali languages.

He is accompanied by his wife.  He has three daughters who are all married and one son pursuing higher education back in India.
