Activities in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan’s participation under ITEC programme: Uzbekistan is a partner of India under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme. Uzbekistan became an ITEC partner country in the year 1993, when a total of 49 Uzbek nominees attended various training courses in India. Since 1993, Uzbekistan’s ITEC participation has gone up tremendously and for the last five years, over 100 Uzbek nationals have been receiving training in India every year in various fields. In 2002-2003, 104 Uzbek nationals received training in India under ITEC programme. In 2003-2004, 109, in 2004-05, 107, in 2005-06, 85 in 2006-07, 120 in 2007-08, 119 in 2008-09, 124 in 2009-10, 115 and in 2010-11, 121 ITEC participant from UzbekistanĀ went to India for training under this programme. The areas in which Uzbek nationals received training include information technology, English language, management, journalism, diplomacy, pharmaceuticals, Standardization & Quality Systems, Small Business Planning & Promotion, Remote Sensing, Labour Administration & Employment Relations, Small Business Creation & Development for Women Entrepreneurs, Textile Testing & Quality Control, Textile Mill Management, Advanced Course on Multimedia & Web Design, Advanced Course in Curriculum Design & Instructional Materials Development, International Programme in Banking for Development, Fertilizer quality control, Water resources development, Tool designing, etc.
Cooperation between Uzbekistan and India in this area involves an expenditure between US$ 4,50,000 to US$ 5,00,000 per annum by the Government of India.
